Members of the Bangladesh Photo Journalists Association (BPJA) formed a human chain in front of the National Press Club on Wednesday, protesting the alleged illegal occupation and rental of a part of the building allocated to the organisation.
Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) President Shahidul Islam and General Secretary Khurshid Alam, Vice President Rashedul Haque, Treasurer Alamgir Hossain, BPJA's President AKM Mohsin and General Secretary Babul Talukder, and prominent photojournalist Rafiqur Rahman, along with BPJA members, were present at the programme.
Speaking at the event, BPJA President Mohsin alleged that "Afroza Haque and her associate Nizami Gong" had forcefully occupied a portion of the government-allocated building and were illegally renting it out.
Following the protest, demonstrators marched to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, where they submitted a memorandum to Adviser Adilur Rahman, urging immediate action.
