Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) alleged that a strategic attempt is underway to rehabilitate Awami League (AL) in national politics through orchestrated elections.

On Wednesday evening, April 23, at rally in front of the National Press Club, NCP leaders claimed that certain political actors are using electoral process as a tool to gradually reinstate Awami League, ignoring public demands for justice and reform.

Later, they held a torch procession outside calling for Awami League to be banned.

Responding to BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi's comments questioning government legitimacy, NCP leaders declared, "This government's legitimacy stems from July's bloodshed. The same laws that allowed withdrawal of hundreds of your cases, enabled your business activities and permitted political engagement establish this government's legitimacy. People didn't shed blood merely for elections. Until Awami League's mass killings face justice and fundamental state reforms occur, people won't accept any election."

Rally speakers demanded government swiftly ban Awami League and bring Sheikh Hasina to justice.

Prominent participants included NCP Joint Convener Sarwar Tushar, Joint Member Secretary Faisal Mahmud Shanto, Nizam Uddin, Zainal Abedin Shishir, Southern Region Organiser Md. Rakib Hossain Raj and Joint Chief Organiser Md. Ataullah.
