As part of an ongoing reform initiative, the National Sports Council (NSC) has restructured two more sports federations by forming new ad-hoc committees for Badminton and Taekwondo. This move follows a previous restructuring in March that involved Archery, Wushu, and Boxing.
The NSC issued a gazette notification on Wednesday, signed by its Secretary M Aminul Islam, confirming the appointments. Salauddin Alamgir has taken the helm as President of the Badminton Federation, with Russel Kabir Sumon serving as General Secretary.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the Taekwondo Federation sees a significant change, ending the long-standing era of Mahmudul Islam Rana.
The new President is Major General M Habib Ullah while Lt. Colonel M Ershadul Haque has been appointed as the General Secretary.
This latest update brings the total number of federations under new ad-hoc managements to 28 out of the country's 55 federations and associations.
While the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has completed its elections and the Cricket Board has seen leadership changes, 24 federations are still awaiting new committee reformations.
Among the federations already restructured are Athletics, Weightlifting, Chess, Tennis, Hockey, Kabaddi, Squash, Basketball, Volleyball, Swimming, Karate, Table Tennis, Bodybuilding, Fencing, Bridge, Billiards & Snooker, Archery, Wrestling, Kho Kho, Boxing, Baseball-Softball, Handball, Judo, Cycling, and Rugby.
The NSC's broad reshuffle aims to bring renewed energy and effective governance to the national sporting landscape. "BSS
