The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds in several parts of the country over the next five days, starting from 9:00 AM today.
According to BMD meteorologist Afruza Sultana, intermittent rain or thundershowers with lightning and gusty winds are expected in a few places within the Sylhet division, and at isolated locations in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Dhaka divisions, as well as in the Cumilla and Noakhali regions.
The forecast comes as a trough of low pressure extends from West Bengal to the North Bay, crossing the southwestern part of Bangladesh, influencing the current weather patterns.
Despite the rain forecasts, temperatures are expected to rise slightly during the day and night throughout the country. However, a mild heatwave is currently affecting Rajshahi, Pabna, Jashore, and Chuadanga districts and may spread to other regions in the coming days.
Tuesday’s highest temperature was recorded at 37.2°C in Jashore, while the lowest was 22.4°C in Bandarban, Chattogram division.
The Met office also noted a possibility of temperature drop after a few days, based on the five-day outlook.
In Dhaka, the sun is scheduled to set at 6:24 PM today and rise at 5:30 AM tomorrow.
