Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) conducted a drive against several under-construction buildings, deviated from approved designs at Fatullah area in Narayanganj Sadar upazila on Tuesday.
RAJUK Executive Magistrate Shilabrata Karmakar led the drive with other officials and it lasted from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM and covered eight building sites in the Shanti Dhara, Giri Dhara and Bou-Bazar areas of Bhui Gar in the upazila.
During the drive, Imam Hossain, a building owner was fined Tk 200,000; failure to pay will result in a one-month imprisonment.
Additionally, unauthorised portions of several buildings were demolished and their electricity connections were disconnected.
According to locals, RAJUK previously demolished some illegal structures in Narayanganj, these were often rebuilt within six months, causing confusion among the public.
Executive Magistrate and Director Shilabrata Karmakar stated that RAJUK's drive against all unauthorised under-construction buildings would continue.
