A court has ordered the imprisonment of Ataullah Abu Ammar Jununi, chief of Myanmar’s armed group Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), along with five of his associates, following an 8-day remand in a sabotage case filed with Siddhirganj Police Station in Narayanganj.
On Tuesday afternoon, following the end of their remand, they were produced in court and Senior Judicial Magistrate Belayet Hossain ordered that they be sent to jail.
Those placed on remand included; Ataullah Abu Ammar Jununi alias Ataullah, Mostak Ahmed, Salimullah, Md Asmatullah and Hasan; a total of six individuals.
Court Police Inspector Md Kaiyum Khan stated that on April 13, police requested a 10-day remand for Ataullah and his five associates in connection with the sabotage case.
After the hearing, the judge granted an 8-day remand. Once the remand period was over, they were produced before the court on Tuesday, which then ordered their imprisonment.
Earlier, on March 17, acting on a tip-off, RAB-11 conducted a raid at a house in Bhumipalli residential area of Siddhirganj and arrested the accused.
Following the incident, on March 18, two cases were filed with Siddhirganj Police Station.
Ataullah Abu Ammar Jununi alias Ataullah is accused in 9 murder cases and several other allegations. He is the chief of Myanmar’s armed group Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA).
