A court in Narayanganj sentenced a man to life imprisonment for strangling his wife to death.
The verdict was delivered by Additional District and Sessions Judge of Court, Humayra Tasmin, on Monday afternoon in the presence of accused.
The convicted Jasim, alias Rana, 25, is the son of Abdul Jalil from Patharghata police station in Barguna district.
The deceased, Surovi, 20, was the daughter of Delwar Hossain from Charmuguria area of Sadar police station in Madaripur district.
Confirming the matter, Narayanganj Court Police Inspector M Kaiyum Khan stated that Jasim strangled his wife Surovi to death and then tried to portray the incident as a suicide at Kanchan Bazar area under Rupganj police station in Narayanganj on February 5, 2020.
After investigation, police filed a charge sheet against the accused husband in court. The court now sentenced the accused husband to life imprisonment and he has been sent to jail, the inspector added.
