CHATMOHAR, PABNA, Apr 21: Police arrested five people in connection with the brutal murder of a child after rape in Chatmohar Upazila of the district.
Officer-in-Charge of Chatmohar Police Station Md Manzurul Alam confirmed the matter in a press briefing on Sunday.
The arrested persons are: Siam Alam, 13, son of Shahin Alam, Sheikh Sadi, 16, son of Aynal Haque, Sakib, 16, son of Dulal Hossain, and Abdullah, 16, son of Shafiqul Islam, residents of Garfa Village under Chandai Union in Baraigram Upazila of Natore; and Sohel Rana, 25, son of Sultan Hossain of Rampur Village under DB Gram Union in Chatmohar Upazila of Pabna.
Earlier, the body of a seven-year-old child, named Aklima Khatun Jui, daughter of Malaysia expatriate Jahidul Islam of Garfa Village, was found on a maize filed in Rampur Gojargari Beel under Haripur Union of Chatmohar at around 11 am on April 15.
After investigation, police came to know that the five accused killed Jui on the Day of Pahela Baishakh after gang-rape. They also burnt her face with acid after the murder, so that nobody will identify the girl. Later on, the law enforcers arrested the five after conducting separate drives at different places on April 17 and 18.
The arrested were produced before a court on Sunday.
