The Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection (DNCRP) has fined two pharmacies a total of Tk 50,000 during a raid at Valaipur Bazar in Chuadanga's Sadar Upazila.
Monir Pharmacy, owned by Monirul Haq, was penalized Tk 25,000 for selling expired medicines and improper storage practices. Meanwhile, Rokeya Dental Care, operated by Abul Kalam Azad, was fined the same amount for running operations with misleading information.
Mamunur Rahman, Assistant Director of the DNCRP's district office, said the raid was carried out based on confidential information. "We inspected several essential goods and medicine stores during the drive," he added.
Authorities have directed both shop owners to rectify the issues and ensure compliance with consumer protection regulations going forward.
