A Dhaka court has barred retired Major General Hamidul Haque, former Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), and his wife Nusrat Jahan Mukta from leaving the country amid an ongoing corruption investigation.
The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib following a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The ACC is currently probing allegations that Hamidul Haque and his wife misused their authority to embezzle government funds and unlawfully accumulate wealth—both in their own names and those of close family members.
In its petition, the ACC expressed concern that the couple might attempt to flee the country to escape prosecution, prompting the request for an immediate travel ban.
In a related move, the same court also imposed travel restrictions on Abbas Uddin and Nazim Uddin Bhuiyan—both reported associates of former State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad A. Arafat. Abbas Uddin’s wife, Nurun Nahar, has also been included in the travel ban.
All individuals are under investigation in connection with separate graft cases being handled by the ACC.
