A three-member delegation from Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis held a meeting with the National Consensus Commission (NCC) this morning at the LD Hall of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban to discuss state reform proposals.
The meeting was chaired by NCC Vice-President Prof. Ali Riaz, with commission members Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Safar Raj Hossain, and Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Monir Haider also in attendance.
Representatives from Khelafat Majlis, including Senior Nayeb-e-Amir Maulana Yusuf Ashraf, Secretary General Jalal Ahmed, and Joint-Secretary General Tofazzal Hossain Miyazi, participated in the discussion.
During the meeting, Prof. Ali Riaz emphasized that the aim of the reform commissions is to ensure the protection of citizens' rights and uphold democratic practices in Bangladesh. He strongly opposed the return of any "deposed fascist regime" and stressed that citizens' rights should be safeguarded. He further highlighted the importance of an independent judiciary in maintaining the rule of law and protecting individual rights, urging that no one should face enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, or harassment.
As part of ongoing talks with various political parties and stakeholders, the National People's Front is scheduled to meet with the NCC later this afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
