The Labour Reform Commission has officially submitted its report to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today. The handover took place around 12 p.m. at the State Guest House Jamuna, as confirmed by the Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.
The commission, which was formed by the interim government on November 17, 2024, consists of 10 members, led by Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, the Executive Director of the Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS). The full list of commission members includes experts and representatives from various sectors, including Dr. Mahfuzul Haque, former secretary at the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Dr. Jakir Hossain, Professor at Rajshahi University, Tapan Dutta, president of the Bangladesh Trade Union Centre’s Chattogram division, and several others from trade unions, the employer federation, and the labour movement, reports BSS.
The commission's report is expected to offer recommendations aimed at improving the country’s labour policies and working conditions.
