Leaders of National Citizen Party (NCP) in Khulna have protested the silent role of administration following flash processions held by Awami League in different areas of Khulna and demanded the arrest of all individuals involved in the rallies within the next 24 hours.

This demand was made at a press conference organized at Khulna Press Club on Sunday (April 20) at 3:30 PM.

The written statement was read by NCP Khulna unit's leaders Ahmad Hamim Rahat and Dr. Abdullah Chowdhury.

In their statement, NCP leaders expressed deep concern over what they described as Awami League; a group they accused of committing genocide in the country's history, holding public processions in Khulna and across the nation.

They alleged that the organization, which had been ousted from power during the 2024 mass uprising, was responsible for the deaths of nearly 2,000 citizens and for maiming thousands more.

They claimed that within just eight months, its recent series of national programs was a clear attempt to destabilize the state of post-July Bangladesh.

According to the statement, they would take a firm stand against such efforts.

The statement further noted that after August 5th, when students had taken control of the streets, members of Awami League had not dared to appear publicly.

However, the leaders remarked with concern that once the students returned to their regular activities and handed over responsibility to law enforcement, incidents of disorder began resurfacing, troubling the general public once again.

The leaders criticized what they saw as the arrogance of a defeated force and condemned the administration’s indifference and inaction, calling it not only a failure of the local authorities but a reflection of the weakness within the entire state apparatus.

They reminded the public that people of Khulna had once swiftly demolished the Awami League’s power base and warned that any recurrence of such "terrorist activities" would prompt the student body to reignite the spirit of July’s uprising, beginning once again from Khulna.

The statement also appealed to all democratic, progressive and patriotic forces of the country to set aside their differences and unite in the greater interest of the nation against this malicious force.

“Due to the absence of a strong political alliance, this defeated force has not yet been banned by the state. As a result, they keep seizing opportunities, distorting history and spreading confusion among the new generation. This situation is a serious threat to national security and the spirit of independence.”

Finally, NCP warned the interim government, “If you do not swiftly take action to ban this terrorist organization, be prepared to face a fierce movement.”
