Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested three Indian nationals along with 69 bottles of Phensedyls at Daulatpur border in Kushtia.
The arrest took place around 6:30 AM on Friday in the Digirchar area of Char Chilmari, under Daulatpur upazila.
The arrested individuals are Jewel Mondal, 25, son of Nizam Uddin Mondal, Rakibul Mondal, 35, son of Shahad Ali Mondal, Bapon Mondal, 32, son of Kalachand Mondal. All of them are from Murshidabad district, India.
The information was confirmed in a written press release issued by Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) on Friday evening.
According to BGB, a drug raid was conducted at the residence of Nizam Mondal, located approximately 150 yards inside Bangladesh from Border Pillar 84/2-S, at Digirchar area under the jurisdiction of Daulatpur Border Outpost (BOP).
During the operation, three Indian nationals were apprehended with 69 bottles of Phensedyls.
Two Bangladeshi nationals involved in the incident, Nizam Mondal,45, and his brother Sharif Mondal, 25, are currently on the run.
Lieutenant Colonel Mahbub Murshed Rahman, Commander of 47 BGB Kushtia battalion, confirmed the incident and said that legal proceedings are underway to file cases against the Indian smugglers under the relevant laws and they will be handed over to Daulatpur Police Station.
