Khagrachhari, April, 18: Five students of Chittagong University (CU), who were abducted in Khagrachhari along with a battery-run auto-rickshaw driver, have not been rescued even after three days of the incident.

A joint operation was carried out by the army and police on Friday morning in Pankhaiyapara, Madhupur and surrounding areas of the district to locate the missing students. During the operation, suspicious houses and vehicles were searched.
Besides, no formal complaint has been filed by the families of the missing students even after three days of the incident.

Multiple sources inside the law enforcement agencies said operations are ongoing using information technology to rescue the abductees. As part of the operation, searches are being conducted in probable locations where the abductors might be holding the victims.

Members of several army zones under the Khagrachhari region and the district police are participating in the operation.

The abduction took place last Wednesday when six people, including five students-one of whom is a leader of the Chittagong University unit of Hill Students' Council, were returning to campus from Khagrachhari.

The United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) is being blamed for the incident by Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti, though UPDF has denied the allegations.
