The National Independent Investigation Commission, tasked with probing the BDR carnage, has issued a public notice inviting individuals to come forward with any relevant information that could aid in uncovering the truth behind the tragic events that unfolded nearly 16 years ago.
Recognising the complexity of investigating such an old and sensitive case, the commission noted that it is proceeding in a structured and strategic manner with the objective of establishing facts through credible information and testimony.
In its public appeal, the commission specifically requested reliable insights and evidence related to the violent uprising at the BDR headquarters in 2009, describing the incident as "unprecedented and gruesome." The commission has provided multiple channels for individuals to share information.
Members of the public can submit details through the commission’s official website at bdr-commission.org, via email at
[email protected], or in person by visiting the commission. Submissions can also be sent via courier or post to the following address:
Bangladesh Reference Institute for Chemical Measurements (BRICM), Notun Bhaban (7th Floor), Dr. Qudrat-e-Khuda Road (Science Laboratory Road), Dhanmondi, Dhaka-1205.
Additionally, the commission has stated that it is willing to visit informants' residences outside Dhaka or abroad, or collect information from other locations if necessary. Those seeking to arrange such visits have been encouraged to contact the commission at the above address.
A dedicated hotline has also been opened for this purpose: 01769-600281, operational from 9 am to 5 pm daily. The commission assured that the identities of those assisting in the investigation will be kept strictly confidential.
The notice was signed by Major General (retd) ALM Fazlur Rahman, who serves as the chairman of the commission.
