A six-month-old baby has gone missing after falling into a drain in the Kapasgola area under Chawkbazar Police Station in Chattogram city. The Fire Service is currently conducting a rescue operation.
The incident occurred in front of Kapasgola Nawab Hotel around 8:00 PM on Friday.
The identities of the child and mother have not yet been confirmed.
According to local sources, a battery-operated rickshaw fell into the drain in front of Nawab Hotel around 8:00 PM. The baby and his mother were passengers in the rickshaw. While the mother was rescued, the child was swept away due to the strong current.
Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel are currently conducting rescue efforts.
Chandanpura Fire Station Leader Alok Chakma said that the fire service initiated the rescue operation shortly after being informed of the incident. As of now, the child has not been found, and the search is ongoing.
