A youth was killed in a road accident at Debidwar upazila in Cumilla district on Friday.
The accident occurred around 11:30 AM on Friday in front of the Jafarganj Gangamandal Raj Institute at Jafarganj area on the Comilla-Sylhet regional highway.
The deceased was identified as Abdullah, 22, son of Abdul Awal Bhuiyan from Shaktala in the upazila.
According to witnesses, a Comilla-bound truck ran over a Pulsar motorcycle heading towards Debidwar, killing the rider, Abdullah, on the spot and injuring the passenger.
Locals managed to seize the truck, but the driver fled the scene.
Mirpur Highway Police Outpost in-charge Pazvez Ali said, "After the accident, we recovered the body from the scene and seized the truck responsible.''
The body has been handed over to the victim’s family. Legal action will be taken against the truck driver, added the police official.
