Bangladeshi youth 'taken away' by Indians in Lalmonirhat

A Bangladeshi youth has been taken away allegedly by a group of Indian nationals while he was collecting corn leaves at Patgram border area in Lalmonirhat on Friday.

The incident took place around 2:00 PM near pillar no-801 sub pillar 10-11 in the area.
The youth was identified as Azinur Rahman, 24, son of Nur Hossain, a resident of Jomgram Dangatari village in the upazila.

According to locals, Azinur went to collect the leaves from a corn filed near the border area. Some Indian nationals, at one stage, entered the country and took him away forcibly.

They later handed Azinur over to Indian Border Security Force (BSF). BSF, however, took him to Indian territory.

Rangpur 51 BGB battalion's Tangjhara camp, called for a flag meeting with the company commander of B Arka Bari BSF camp to bring back Azinur.

Confirming the matter, Rangpur 51 BGB battalion company commander Subedar Rafiqul Islam said that the process of bringing back Azinur to Bangladesh was underway.
