A head-on collision between a truck and a pickup van in Habiganj's Madhabpur upazila, has left four people dead, including two women, and at least five others injured.
The accident occurred in Bakhar Nakhar area of the upazila around 2 AM on Thursday (April 17).
The deceased have been identified as Mostakina, 35, wife of Ismail Mia from Chamokpur village in Baniachang upazila; Hafizur Rahman, 26, son of Rajab Ali; Ayesha Begum, 30, daughter of Jahur Ali; and Rahim Mia, 21, from Sirajganj.
Eyewitnesses and police sources reported that the pickup van was carrying 17 passengers along with household goods at the time of the crash. Following the collision, four individuals died on the spot, while five others sustained injuries and were rushed to a local hospital.
The bodies of the deceased have been kept at Habiganj Upazila Complex, and both the truck and pickup van have been seized by police.
Confirming the incident, Abdullah Al Mamun, the acting officer-in-charge of Madhabpur Police Station, stated that the head-on crash resulted in four fatalities and multiple injuries.
Police are working to verify the identities of the victims and investigate the circumstances of the accident, he added.
