A series of clashes broke out on Thursday between activists of the Chhatra Dal and members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement along with NCP (Nationalist Chhatra Party) leaders at Alhaj Mostafa Hakim Degree College in North Kattoli, Chattogram.
Following daylong tensions and intermittent confrontations, both groups once again came face-to-face in the evening near Akbar Shah police station. During this standoff, Saifuddin Maruf, an activist of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, was reportedly injured in an attack by Chhatra Dal members, according to an NCP organizer.
Sources say police from Akbar Shah station were deployed between the rival groups to prevent further escalation.
While activists from the Anti-Discrimination Movement and NCP took shelter inside the police station, Chhatra Dal members remained stationed outside. As the situation grew increasingly tense, members of the armed forces arrived on the scene and brought the situation under control. The groups eventually dispersed, and normalcy was restored in the area.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, and further developments are awaited.
