MEHERPUR, Apr 17: Liberation War Affairs Adviser Faruk-e-Azam, Bir Pratik, has said the Mujibnagar government is an internationally recognized and constitutional government as it has organized the country's War of Liberation and helped establish relations with international communities.

"The Mujibnagar government is an internationally recognised one. . . There is no plan to rename the Mujibnagar government. The history cannot be erased...History must be kept at its own place," he said.

The adviser made these remarks while talking to newsmen on Thursday after placing wreaths at the Mujibnagar Memorial in Meherpur district marking the historic Mujibnagar Day.

Laying emphasis on preserving the history of the Mujibnagar Government, the adviser said, "It is their job what's the future elected government will do in this regard...We have many achievements. We don't want to put them into controversies willingly. History must be kept intact".

Replying to a query of journalist, he said, "Real freedom fighters are often felt embarrass because many falsely claimed the title. This is a shameful matter. We have already taken several steps to address it. Some cases are awaiting for court's verdicts. Over 2,700 cases are pending, and we expect their resolution soon."

Earlier in the morning at 5:43am, the adviser hoisted the national flag when the national anthem was played and a guard of honour was presented.

Two Ansar members, who had presented the guard of honour to the national leaders on April 17, 1971 were also honoured.

After placing wreaths at the memorial, Adviser Faruk-E-Azam had visited various parts of the Mujibnagar Memorial Complex and the Amrakanan here.
