The four-time champions, Bangladesh Men's Hockey team, are set to begin their campaign in the Men's AHF Cup on Friday with their opening group match against Kazakhstan in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The match kicks off at 5 pm (BST).
Bangladesh hockey team completed their training session on Thursday morning before their opening match of the tournament.
The men in red and green won the AHF Cup title in the last four editions in 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2022 respectively. They will play their second match against Indonesia on April 20.
Bangladesh will play their remaining two group matches against Thailand and Sri Lanka on April 22 and 23 respectively.
Earlier, prior to the team’s departure, Bangladesh national hockey team’s head coach Mamun Ur Rashid expressed his optimism to defend the title of the AHF Cup hockey.
“As we are the champions of the last four editions of the AHF Cup so target has been automatically set and we want to become champion of the tournament this time as well,” said Mamun.
The AHF Cup tournament, will serve as the qualification tournament for the Asia Cup. In the tournament Bangladesh are pitted against hosts Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Kazakhstan in Pool B.
