Farmer killed in Rajshahi lightning strike

A farmer was killed in a strike at Arani village under Bagha upazila in Rajshahi district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Manik Hossain Mondal, 45, son of late Abdur Razzaque of Hamidkura village of the upazila.

Abdul Awal, former ward councilor of Arani Municipality, said that he was struck by lightning while he was sowing maize seeds in his field during a storm around 1:30 pm.

Manik succumbed to his injuries on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, he added.
