Dear Sir,

In recent times, incidents of mugging have been increasing at an alarming rate in Bangladesh, especially in Dhaka. Various areas of the city, including Banasree, Mohammadpur, Khilgaon, Hatirjheel, Hazaribagh, Mirpur, and even Gulshan, have witnessed a surge in such crimes. These incidents are occurring openly during the day, while after dusk, the members of mugging gangs become even more reckless. Passengers on buses, CNGs, and motorcycles are being held at gunpoint and robbed of their belongings. Even pedestrians are not spared. Many of these incidents result in serious injuries, and in some cases, even fatalities. For city dwellers, traveling at night in the capital has become extremely risky.

To ensure public safety, law enforcement agencies need to take stricter and more proactive measures. Police patrolling should be increased in high-risk areas, and CCTV surveillance should be strengthened. Citizens must also be more aware, and intelligence monitoring should be enhanced with public cooperation. I urge law enforcement agencies to take immediate and effective steps to ensure the safety of city residents and prevent mugging incidents.
