Kings reach Federation Cup final

Defending champions Bashundhara Kings stormed into the final of the Bashundhara Group Federation Cup football when they came from behind beating Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by 2-1 goals in the second qualifier held at Bashundhara Kings arena in the capital on Tuesday.

Kings will now play the final match against Abahani Limited scheduled to be held on April 22 at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.

In the proceeding, defenders Saad Uddin and Insan Hossain scored one goal each for Kings while Gambian midfielder Soloman King netted a lone goal for Rahmatganj.

The match was locked goalless at the breather.

Though Kings were favorite in the match in pen and paper but Rahmatganj fought them with neck to neck making the score sheet clean till the first half.

Solomon finally broke the deadlock scoring the first goal for the traditional old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj in the 76th minute with a well judge shot from the close range after taking a pass from Nabib Newaj Jibon from the right wing.

Kings equalized the margin six minutes later. Saad Uddin brought Kings in the game back with a brilliant header from inside the box from a cross.

As there were no more goal in regulation time, the match finally rolled into extra time and substitute Insan sealed the victory for Kings in the 113th minute with a header from the vantage position off a cross from Rakib Hossain.

Earlier, Abahani Limited confirmed their spot of final beating Bashundhara Kings by 4-2 goals in penalty shootout in the first qualifier match.
