Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin said Boro rice will arrive in the market in two weeks and hoped the rice market will become more affordable when new rice arrives in the market.

He told reporters after a meeting on Tuesday that particularly reviewed pressing issues including imports of essentials and supply of edible oil.
The commerce adviser said unfortunately, the price of rice has increased for quite some time. Boro rice will come to the market this time and price of fine rice, especially Nazirshail or Miniket will be more affordable in coming weeks.

On Soybean oil, he said the government has accepted the decision to increase Soybeans oil price by Tk 15 per liter in the light of a rise of its price in global market and import price, the adviser said.

He said that, "This year, our weather and supply of electricity was good. Moreover, the overall supply of fertilizers was good. We think by the grace of Allah, our crop, namely rice harvest will also be blessed and the rice market will be more bearable when new rice arrives in the market."

He also said, "Agricultural products are dependent on dynamic situation such as adaptation with weather and other natural situation. We are keeping a sharp eye on all products and doing what we can to manage them."

When asked if there is a possibility of discussing trade issuers during the visit of a Trump's delegation to Bangladesh in few days, he said, "This is the only issue that is important."
