Cricketing excitement is set to sweep across Bangladesh this August as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officially announced the itinerary for India's much-anticipated white-ball tour. The tour slated for mid to late August, will comprise three ODIs and as many T20i matches, making it a high-profile bilateral engagement on home soil.
The Indian team is expected to touch down in Dhaka on August 13. The action begins with the ODI series, which kicks off on August 17 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur, Dhaka. The first two ODIs will be played in the capital on August 17 and August 20, before the teams head to Chattogram for the final ODI on August 23 at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Cricket Stadium (BSSFLMRCS).
Following the 50-over contests, the T20i leg of the series will begin on August 26 at the same venue. This series is of particular significance, as it marks the first-ever bilateral T20i series between Bangladesh and India to be held on Bangladeshi soil, which is a historic milestone in the cricketing relationship between the two neighbours. After the opening match in Chattogram, the teams return to Dhaka for last two clashes of the tour slated for August 29 and August 31, both to be held at the SBNCS. The Indian squad is scheduled to depart on September 1.
BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury has expressed high hopes for the upcoming series stating, "This series promises to be one of the most exciting and most anticipated events in our home calendar. India have set the benchmark in international cricket across all formats and the cricket-loving millions in both countries are sure to enjoy this contest".
"Bangladesh and India have played some very competitive matches in recent years, and I am confident that this will be another hard-fought and entertaining series," he added.
