Chittagong University (CU) celebrated Bangla New Year 1432 with due solemnity.
Bangla New Year’s procession started from administrative building of CU on Monday morning and ended at Jarultala after parading the university campus.
CU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yahya Akhter was present as the chief guest while CU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) and President of Pahela Baishakh Celebration Committee Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin presided over the function.
CU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yahya Akhtar said that Pahela Baishakh is a symbol of our tradition and rich cultural pride of the Bengalis. The day is an integral part of our ethnic identity and a source of inspiration for the renaissance.
Among others, CU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan, Law Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. M Zafarullah Talukder, CU Registrar (Acting) Prof. Dr. Mohammad Saiful Islam, CU Proctor and Member Secretary of the celebration committee Prof. Dr. Tanvir Mohammad Haider Arif, were present on the occasion.
