A five-month pregnant wife has been stabbed to death by her husband while on nagordola at a boishakhi fair in Noakhali's Begumganj.
Police, however, detained the killer husband named Md Shakib red-handed.
He married deceased Lucky Begum one year ago.
According to Lucky Begum's mother Shefali Begum, Lucky alongwith her husband had come to her father's house at Kalapol area in the upazila 15 days ago. The couple had a quarrel on Sunday and at one stage, Shakib beat up his wife and also tear her clothes.
On Monday evening, Shakib and Lucky went to a fair under Eklashpur union. Suddenly, Shakib stabbed Lucky while on nagordola, leaving her critically injured.
She was then taken to Noakhali General Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
Begumganj Police Station inspector Md Habibur Rahman said, "Accused husband was detained. We come to knew that the incident happened over family feud. The body was kept at the morgue of the Noakhali General Hospital. Next legal step will be taken based on written complaint of the deceased's family."
