Students of Chittagong University (CU) locked the main entrance of the campus since Tuesday morning protesting assault on a fellow student.
Teachers and students were seen entering the campus on foot in the morning.
However, classes and exams are being held as per schedule.
On Monday, around 10:30PM, a student was physically assaulted by locals near the university's rail crossing area. After that, at about 1:30AM on Tuesday, the students locked the main entrance.
The protesters alleged that, such incident by the locals have also happened earlier.
"We will not unlock the gate until a permanent solution is provided," they said.
Victim Sultanul Arefin, a student of Science Department, said, "I was standing on a rail crossing. Suddenly, a CNG-run autorickshaw lifted the wheel on my foot. Then an altercation took place with the driver. Some outsiders came there and started using abusive words and beating me."
