Beware of fake cosmetic products

The recent import and sale of substandard products under popular brand names in Bangladesh have become a significant threat to public health. Nearly half of the imported cosmetics and skincare products are found to be adulterated and counterfeit.

The presence of harmful chemicals in everyday products is steadily increasing, leading to various cancer-related diseases among consumers. Counterfeiting of renowned international cosmetic brands has become prevalent, with fake products being marketed openly. Simultaneously, expired and substandard cosmetics are being smuggled into the country through illegal channels.
It is crucial for the government to strengthen its monitoring and regulation of the production and distribution of counterfeit and substandard products. Additionally, consumers must avoid being lured by flashy advertisements and refrain from purchasing unauthorized products. I request the government and relevant authorities to ensure strict supervision of the market and raise public awareness to combat this growing issue effectively.
