SIRAJGANJ, Apr 13: A man was killed and 25 others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over occupying government land in Shahjadpur Upazila of the district on Sunday.
The incident took place in Dhunail Village of the upazila in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Modin Molla, son of Chakin Molla, a resident of the same village.
According to locals, there had been a longstanding dispute between Musa and Halim over occupying Khas land.
On Saturday, the two groups swooped on each other with lethal weapons, which left 20 people of the both groups injured.
Following Saturday's clash, the two groups swooped on each other with lethal weapons once again, leaving Modin, loyal to Musa, dead on the spot and 25 others injured.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to hospital.
Being informed, a team of police led by Shajadpur Circle Additional Superintended of Police Md Kamruzzaman rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahjadpur Police Station (PS) Achlam Ali.
Police, later, recovered Modin's body and sent it to Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Filing of a murder case with the PS is underway in this connection, the OC added.
