A man was killed and 25 others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers’ over occupying government land in Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur upazila on Sunday morning.
The clash incident took place at Dhunail village in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Modin Molla, son of Chakin Molla, a resident of the same village in the upazila.
According to locals, there had been a long standing dispute between Musa and Halim over occupying Khas land.
On Saturday, the two groups swooped on each other with lethal weapons, leaving 20 people of the both group injured.
Following Saturday’s clash, the two groups swooped on each other with lethal weapons once again, leaving Modin, loyal to Musa, died and 25 others injured on the spot.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to hospital for treatment.
Being informed, a team of police, led by Shajadpur circle additional superintended of police M Kamruzzaman, rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control, said Shahjadpur Police Station officer-in-charge Achlam Ali.
Police later recovered Modin’s body and sent it to Shahjadpur General Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.
The process of filing a case was underway in this connection, the OC added.
