A case has been filed against 22 students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) two months after the clash incident.

The case was lodged by a local, Md. Hochen Ali of Moheshwarpasha Uttar Bonikpara, with the Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

The court has taken the complaint into consideration and directed Khan Jahan Ali Police Station to investigate and submit a report.

The case names 22 students and includes 15 to 20 unnamed individuals as accused. The students named in the case include Omar Faruk, Zahidur, Obaidullah, Mohon, Galib Rahat, Tanvir Mahin, Raihan, Sheikh Mujahid, Sajjad Farhad, Himel, Shovon, Isha Ansari, Abu Hasan Khalid, Yasin Rowan, Fazle Rabbi, Zahidul Islam Nayel, Safti Ansari, Abdur Rahim Mridha, Azmain Ishraq Arnob, Mujahid, Mahadi Hasan and Ovi.

Though the case was filed on Thursday, the news became public on Saturday, sparking outrage among students of KUET.

According to the complaint, on February 18, the plaintiff was on his way home via KUET Road when he was allegedly attacked near pocket gate by the accused, who beat him with rods and sticks with intent to kill.

In defiance of university restrictions, students have announced plans to re-enter closed KUET campus at 2 PM on Sunday, raising tensions on campus.

Students have been actively announcing on social media their intention to return to the campus and dormitories at 2 PM on Sunday, prompting the KUET administration to take preventive measures.

KUET Vice-Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Masud said that parents have been urged to dissuade students from returning to closed campus.

Meanwhile, Khulna Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Abul Bashar Mohammad Atikur Rahman confirmed that police have been deployed at two campus gates.
