Romania has agreed to Bangladesh's proposal to establish an alternative mechanism for issuing visas to Bangladeshi nationals, aiming to ease the travel process between the two countries.
The development was announced following a bilateral meeting between Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain and Romanian Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) 2025, currently taking place in Antalya, Türkiye.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Romania has also proposed a bilateral agreement on migration and mobility to promote legal migration pathways. The Bangladeshi delegation welcomed the initiative, recognizing the potential for structured and secure workforce migration.
In addition to migration discussions, the two sides explored the expansion of cooperation across several sectors, including agriculture, the automotive and rail industries, and trade and investment. Romania further pledged its support for Bangladesh’s efforts to retain Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) trade privileges within the European Union.
The meeting featured a focused exchange on sectoral collaboration and mutual interests. Senior officials and the Bangladesh Ambassador to Türkiye were also present during the discussions.
