Dhaka University (DU) students plan to join 'March for Gaza' on Saturday, April 12, carrying a massive 70-foot Palestinian flag, making a bold statement against the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Mosaddeq Ali Ibn Mohammad, co-organizer of Quota Reform Movement and Bangla Department student, announced the initiative via Facebook today, urging fellow students to gather at VC Circle by 2:15 PM on Saturday.
"Dhaka University students will collectively join the March for Gaza carrying a 70-foot Palestinian flag," wrote Mosaddeq in his social media post.
University Vice Chancellor is expected to attend as chief guest, elevating this symbolic protest from Bangladesh's premier educational institution aimed at raising global awareness.
Global protests continue mounting against Israeli actions in Gaza as violence persists under worldwide observation. Airstrikes have destroyed critical infrastructure including mosques, churches, hospitals and schools, whilst 57 Muslim-majority nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation remain largely inactive.
Responding to this humanitarian catastrophe, "Palestine Solidarity Movement Bangladesh" has organised tomorrow's "March for Gaza" heading towards Suhrawardy Udyan, beginning at 3:00 PM and chaired by Maulana Abdul Malek, Chief Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
The unprecedented demonstration will unite Bangladeshis across political divides in support of Palestinian liberation, with marchers departing at 2:00 PM from five starting points: Banglamotor, Kakrail Mor, Zero Point, Bakshibazar Mor and Nilkhet Mor, converging via multiple entry points into Suhrawardy Udyan.
Whilst TSC metro station will remain closed, roads will stay accessible for examinees, who organisers advise should leave early and seek volunteer assistance if needed.
Participants should bring water, umbrellas and masks, maintain cleanliness and remain calm throughout. Only Bangladeshi and Palestinian national flags are permitted as symbols of solidarity, with no political party insignia allowed.
Organisers emphasise cooperation with law enforcement and volunteer teams to ensure peaceful proceedings.
