Police recovered the slaughtering body of a woman from Dhekipota village of Chaugachha upazila in Jashore on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Rikta Begum, 40, wife of Rokonuzzaman, a resident of the same village in the upazila.
According to locals, Azizur got married to Rikta as his second wife one year ago. There had been a family dispute between his first wife Bilkis and Rikta since their marriage.
Altercations between them often took place over the issue.
Locals spotted the slaughtering body of Rikta lying on the land and informed police, said Chaugachha Police Station officer-in-charge Anowar Hossain.
A team of police recovered the body and sent it to Jashore General Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.
Rikta might have killed by Bilkis over a feud between them, the OC suspected.
Rokonuzzaman, Bilkis and their son Barkat went into hiding after the incident.
Police were looking into the matter, the OC said, adding that legal action would be taken against those found involved in the incident.
