Indonesia President offers to shelter wounded Palestinians from Gaza

Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto has announced that the country is ready to temporarily shelter Palestinians affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza. In response to the war between Israel and Hamas, Prabowo stated that Indonesia would offer refuge to wounded individuals and orphaned children, prioritizing those in need of urgent care.

The country is preparing to send planes to transport approximately 1,000 people in the initial phase of the evacuation.

Prabowo emphasized that these individuals would remain in Indonesia until they have recovered and it is safe for them to return to Gaza. The Indonesian leader also directed his foreign minister to engage with Palestinian officials and regional stakeholders to coordinate the evacuation process.
As the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country, Indonesia has consistently advocated for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Prabowo’s announcement comes ahead of his visit to several Middle Eastern countries, including the UAE, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, and Jordan. He is also scheduled to address the Turkish parliament during his visit, strengthening ties with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a strong supporter of the Palestinian cause.
