BCG detains 2 with arms, 3,000 Yaba tablets in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Apr 8: Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) detained two people with four country-made firearms and 3,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from Karnafuli River on Tuesday.

The arrested are: Md. Wahid Helal, 28, and Junaidul Islam Sami, 26, hailed from Anwara upazila of the district.
Several cases including theft, robbery and drug cases were pending against the duo with Patenga, Anwara and Maheshkhali Police Stations.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patenga Police Station Shafiqul Islam said, on a tip-off, a team of the BCG arrested Helal and Sami with the firearms and contraband drugs from the estuary of Karnaphuli river channel, adjacent area of the city's Patenga thana.

The boat that used to smuggle the aforesaid Yaba was seized from the spot, the BGC sources said.
