A Dhaka court on Monday ordered the freezing of nine bank accounts belonging to Jamuna Bank’s Jessore branch Senior Vice (SVP) President Prashanta Kumar Das amid an ongoing investigation into corruption charges.

The frozen accounts hold a total of Tk 5.45 million.

The Senior Special Judge Court Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order after a request by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the ACC’s petition, Das is under investigation for embezzling 100 million BDT from the bank, transferring funds to India, and acquiring disproportionate assets in the names of himself and his family members.

The ACC cited concerns that Das might attempt to withdraw or transfer the funds before the investigation concludes, making recovery difficult. Therefore, the freezing of these accounts is deemed necessary to prevent any such actions.
