AL leader held in 2015 attack on Khaleda Zia

Police arrested an Awami League leader on Sunday from Dhaka’s Fakirapool area in connection with the attack on BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s motorcade in 2015 in Karwan Bazar.

The arrested man is Sabbir Hossain, general secretary of Motijheel unit Awami League.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the early hours of Sunday and arrested him, said Mezbah Uddin, officer-in-charge of Motijheel Police Station.

A court issued an arrest warrant against Sabbir in connection with the case filed with Tejgaon Police Station on August 22, last year, said OC.

In April 2015, Khaleda Zia’s motorcade came under attack during electioneering in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar.
