1 killed, 2 injured in Satkhira road mishap

One was killed and two others were injured when a speeding bus hit a three-wheeler in Satkhira district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Jatindranath Mukherjee, 40, son of late Dr. Shailendranath Mukherjee of Saihati village under Ashashuni in Satkhira district. The injured individuals are his elder brother Mahendranath Mukherjee, 56, and Sushanta Biswas, 32.

Mahendranath Mukherjee, elder brother of the deceased, mentioned that they were traveling in a three-wheeler from Satkhira to Patkelghata in the morning. When they reached Binrapota area on the Satkhira-Khulna highway, a fast-moving bus coming from Dhaka hit their three-wheeler, leaving the three-wheeler overturned and fell on the road.

Locals rescued the injured and took to Satkhira Sadar Hospital, where on-duty doctor, Dr. Momtaz Majid, declared Jatindranath dead.

Satkhira Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Shaminul Haque confirmed that the incident occurred around 11:30 AM on Friday at Binrapota area, near the city.
