President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he is withdrawing Elise Stefanik's nomination for US ambassador to the United Nations.

Trump cited concerns over the potential impact on the narrow Republican majority in Congress if Stefanik were to vacate her seat in the House of Representatives, where she currently represents New York.

"I don't want to take a chance on anyone else running for Elise's seat," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
