Remittance inflow rises by 82.4pc in first 26 days of March

The country's remittance inflow witnessed a remarkable year-on-year growth of 82.4 percent, reaching US$2,945 million in the first 26 days of March as migrant workers sent more money home to relatives ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious occasion in the country, reports BSS.

According to the latest data of Bangladesh Bank (BB), the country logged a total of $1,614 million in remittances during the same period last year.

Expatriates have sent remittances of $21435 million during the July 2024 - 26 March 2025 of the current fiscal year, which was only $16,692 million during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Accordingly, remittances have increased by $4,743 million or 28.4 percent in a span of about nine months
