River police recovered the floating body of an unidentified man from the Karnaphuli River at Majhirghat Lohar Gate area in Chattogram city on Wednesday night.

The identity of the deceased, aged about 45, could not be known immediately, the police officials said.
According to police, locals spotted the body floating on the water of the river and informed police.

Being informed, a team of police recovered the body and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) morgue for post-mortem examination, said Sadarghat River Police Station officer-in-charge M Ekram Ullah.

Police found several injury marks in different parts of the body.

He might have killed by miscreants, the OC suspected.

A case has been lodged with the police station, the OC said, adding that legal action would be taken against those found involved in this connection.
