A man and his daughter were killed and two others injured when their private car lost control and crashed into a tree in Natore's Lalpur upazila.
The accident occurred around 10 am on Thursday (March 27) in Godhra area under Kadimchilan union of the upazila on the Natore-Pabna highway.
The victims were identified as Shahriar Sakil, 35, from Koitla area of Bogura Sadar, and his 2-year-old daughter Sumaiya Akter.
Police said Shahariar Shakil was returning to his home in Bogura district from Jashore by a rented private car to celebrate Eid with his wife and child in the morning. On the way, the driver lost control over the car when they reached the area and hit a roadside tree. Four people in the private car, including the driver, were seriously injured.
Local people rescued them and took to local Patwari General Hospital in Bonpara where doctors declared the father and daughter dead.
The injured Ayesha Akter Runi, wife of the dead Shaharia Shakil, was admitted to Patwari Hospital and the injured private car driver was admitted to Natore Sadar Hospital. Later, Ayesha Akter Runi was transferred to Natore Sadar Hospital.
Bonpara Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ismail Hossain said the bodies of the two deceased are currently at the police station.
