Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus arrived in Hainan, China, at 4:15 pm Bangladesh Standard Time, according to the Chief Adviser's Press Wing.

Md Nazmul Islam, Bangladesh Ambassador to China, and the Vice Governor of Hainan Province welcomed him at Qionghai Bo'ao Inter-national Airport, Hainan.

Professor Yunus expressed optimism about strengthening Bangladesh-China relations through his four-day official visit. "I am going to China on a four-day visit. I will meet with President Xi Jinping. I will also meet with CEOs of major Chinese businesses," he stated ahead of the trip.

Bangladesh and China are set to sign several agreements and Memo-randums of Understanding (MoUs) during a bilateral meeting between Professor Yunus and President Xi Jinping in Beijing on 28th March. These agreements are expected to cover areas such as human resource development, economic and technical assistance, cultural and sports cooperation, and media collaboration. Additionally, announcements related to the economy, investment, and economic zones are anticipated.

Addressing the nation on Tuesday evening, Dr Yunus revealed that Longji, the world's largest Chinese solar panel manufacturer, has shown interest in establishing a factory in Bangladesh.

The visit will also focus on strategic bilateral issues, including trade and investment promotion, cooperation in agriculture, infrastructure, renewable energy, and resolving the Rohingya crisis, according to the Foreign Secretary. He added that the visit would bring new momentum to Dhaka-Beijing relations.

As per the schedule, the Chief Adviser will participate in roundtable discussions on topics such as Sustainable Infrastructure and Energy Investment, Bangladesh 2.0 Manufacturing and Market Opportunities, and Social Business, Youth Entrepreneurship, and the World of Three Zeros.

"This is going to be the most important visit by a Bangladeshi leader in 50 years," remarked Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, quoting Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen, who met Dr Yunus on 16th March.

The Chief Adviser will attend the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2025 in Boao, South China's Hainan Province, and participate in its inaugural plenary session on 27th March. On the same day, he is scheduled to meet the Executive Vice President of the State Council.

On 29th March, Professor Yunus will attend a programme at Peking University before returning to Dhaka later that night.

Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen, who conveyed the Chinese leadership's invitation to Dr Yunus last August, recently emphasised the steadfast nature of China-Bangladesh relations. "China and Bangladesh are best friends and trustworthy partners. So, whatever change is taking place internationally or domestically in Bangladesh, our policy remains steadfast," he said. He added that China's cooperation aims to benefit all the people of Bangladesh and China, regardless of the government in power.
