Minor drowns in Sherpur pond

A minor girl drowned in a pond at Bishgiripara village of Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur district on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Nadia Khatun, 4, daughter of Nur Hossain, a resident of the same village in the upazila.
According to locals, Nadia slipped and drowned in a pond next to her home while she was playing near the bank of the pond. Locals found her floating and informed police.

Being informed, a team of police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceased's family after legal procedures, said Nalitabari Police Station officer-in-charge Shohel Rana said.
