On the eve of Independence Day, select citizens and organizations are honored with the prestigious Independence Day Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions in fields such as science, sports, literature, music, and the arts. The celebrations culminate the next day with grand events, including parades, concerts, and rallies across the country.
Many people don traditional green and red sarees and kurtas to express pride in the national colors, while the streets are adorned with the Bangladeshi flag. The green represents the nation's progress, youth, and vibrant landscape, while the red symbolizes sacrifice, rebirth, and the rising sun, as depicted in today’s doodle.
